Summary IL-17A, also known as CTLA‑8, is a cytokine that belongs to the Interleukin‑17 family. It produced by activated T cells and plays an important role in anti‑microbial and chronic inflammation. Mouse IL‑17A shares 61% amino acid sequence identity with human IL‑17A. It promotes protective mucosal and epidermal inflammation in response to microbial infection and induces chemokine production, neutrophil influx, and the production of antibacterial peptides. It can stimulate the expression of IL-6 and PTGS2/COX-2, as well as enhance the production of nitric oxide(NO). High levels of IL-17 are associated with several chronic inflammatory diseases including rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, and multiple sclerosis. Also, IL‑17A has been shown to exert either tumorigenic or anti‑tumor effects. Recombinant mouse IL-17A, fused to His-tag at C-terminus, was expressed in insect cell and purified by using conventional chromatography techniques.
