Applications	Cell culture
Storage	Lyophilized protein should be stored at -20°C for 1 year. Upon reconstitution, store at 2°C to 8°C for up to 1 week. Further dilute in a buffer containing a carrier protein or stabilizer (e.g. 0.1% BSA, 10%FBS, 5%HSA or 5% trehalose solution), protein aliquots should be stored at -20°C or -80°C for 3-6 months. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.
Bioactivity	Measure by its ability to inhibit the proliferation of mouse MPC-11 cells. The ED₅₀ for this effect is <10 ng/mL. The specific activity of recombinant human Activin A is approximately >1.0 x 10³ IU/mg.

Summary	Activin is the member of the TGF beta superfamily of cytokines. The current understanding of Activin A is classified as a hormone, a Growth Factors, and a cytokine. Depending on the different cell type, that overexpression of Activin A can either inhibit or promote cells division. There are important implications for tumor biology. Activin A also increase joint inflammation in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and induces pathogenic mechanisms in the respiratory system.
