Background	Chitinase 3-like 3, also known as ECF-L and Ym1, is a secreted 377 amino acid lectin that binds heparin and GlcN oligomers. This gene is mapped to 3 F2.2; 3 46.49 Cm. CHI3L3 is produced primarily by macrophages during inflammation. ECF-L shares homology with chitinase family proteins, but lacks enzymatic activity.
