The AChR responds by an extensive change in conformation after binding acetylcholine, that affects all subunits and leads to opening of an ion-conducting channel across the plasma membrane permeable to sodium ions. The binding characterization of this antibody to human α4β2 nicotinic receptor was done using ELISA.
