Formulation	This polyclonal antibody is supplied as a lyophilized powder. The powder should be rehydrated with 50ml of RIA buffer. Upon reconstitution to 50ml total volume, the solution contains 0.1M sodium phosphate buffer (pH 7.4), 0.05M NaCl, 0.1% BSA, 0.01% NaN3, and 0.1% Triton X-100. Store at 4° - 8°C. This should ensure antibody stability for approximately one month.

Background	Endothelin-1 is a potent vasoconstrictor produced by vascular endothelial cells. It plays an important role in regulation of cardiovascular functions. The binding of Endothelin-1 to its G-protein coupled receptor triggers a signal transduction cascade leading to activation of the protein kinase C (PKC). PKC inhibitor potentially reverses the up-regulation of Endothelin-1. The enhanced Endothelin-1 expression associated with the activation of PKC occurs in early diabetes. This antibody was generated by immunization of rabbits with Endothelin-1 coupled to a carrier protein.
