Applications ELISA, WB
Recommend Dilution Sandwich ELISA: To detect Human Galectin-1 (using 100 µl/well antibody solution) a concentration of 0.5-2.0 µg/ml of this antibody is required. This antigen affinity purified antibody, in conjunction with Biotinylated Anti-Human Galectin-1 (PP1223B1 and PP1223B2) as a detection antibody, allows the detection of at least 0.2-0.4 ng/well of recombinant Human Galectin-1.
Western Blot: To detect Human Galectin-1 by this analysis, the antibody can be used at a concentration of 0.1-0.2 µg/ml. Used in conjunction with compatible secondary reagents the detection limit for recombinant hGalectin-1 is 1.5-3.0 ng/lane, under either reducing or non-reducing conditions.
Reactivity Human
Host Rabbit

Gene Name galectin 1
Background The galectins are a family of beta-galactoside-binding proteins implicated in modulating cell-cell and cell-matrix interactions. Galectin 1 may act as an autocrine negative growth factor that regulates cell proliferation. It also may regulate cell apoptosis and cell differentiation. It binds beta-galactoside, CD45, CD3 and CD4. Galectin 1 inhibits CD45 protein phosphatase activity and therefore the dephosphorylation of Lyn kinase. It is found in cardiac, smooth, and skeletal muscle, neurons, thymus, kidney, placenta and hematopoietic cells.
Synonyms LGALS1, Galectin1, Lectin galactoside-binding soluble 1, Beta-galactoside-binding lectin L-14-I, Lactose-binding lectin 1, S-Lac lectin 1, Galaptin, 14 kDa lectin, HPL, HBL, MAPK-activating protein PM12
Note Molecular Weight: ~150 kDa
