Background	Enterobacter cloacae is a gram negative, rod-shaped bacterium that has peritrichous flagella. Enterobacter species, particularly Enterobacter cloacae, are important nosocomial pathogens responsible for a variety of infections, including bacteremia, lower respiratory tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, urinary tract infections, endocarditis, intra abdominal infections, septic arthritis, osteomyelitis, and ophthalmic infections.
