| Background | ADAM-10 is a member of the mammalian ADAM family and is involved in the cleavage of TNF alpha, Notch and its ligand delta. ADAM-10 mRNA is expressed in a variety of human tissues. Disintegrin and metalloproteinase domain-containing protein 10, also known as ADAM-10, CDw156, Mammalian disintegrin-metalloprotease, CD156c or Kuzbanian protein homolog. CD156c is a 748 amino acid ~85 kDa type I, single pass transmembrane glycoprotein with a 19 aa signal peptide and adjacent 194 aa propeptide region yeilding a mature 535 aa protease. CD156c is a member of the mammalian ADAM family and is involved in the cleavage of TNF alpha, Notch and its ligand delta (Primakoff & Miles 2000) |
