Specificity The antibody reacts with free Kappa chains, but not with Kappa chains attached to heavy chains. No reaction is observed with Ig Kappa on membranes of lymphocytes.
No crossreactivity with Lambda chains. In Ouchterlony Immunodiffusion no reaction with Bence Jones Kappa is observed.
The antibody reacts with Kappa chain containing cells in sections from sublimate fixed and paraffin embedded tissues. All cytoplasmic Ig Kappa containing cells from bone marrow cells recognized by conventional anti kappa antibodies will be recognized by these monoclonal antibodies.

Background Immunoglobulin classes share the same basic four polypeptide chain structure of two heavy chains (five heavy chains types) and two light chains (kappa, lambda; both having a molecular weight of 22.5kDa). Kappa and lambda consist of a variable region and a constant region and can easily be differentiated by the antigenic properties of the constant region. The ratio of kappa to lambda is 70:30.
